Why have over 600 churches invited Dr. Charles Petty to speak? Or dozens of religious state and national conventions? Because he has the ability to take biblical principles, package them in humor, and speak them plainly and powerfully.

In addition to Christian audiences, Charles speaks to businesses, industries, trade associations, chambers of commerce, educators and non-profits. In 1998 Dr. Petty was inducted into the National Speakers Association’s Hall of Fame, joining such dignitaries as Norman Vincent Peale, Zig Ziglar, Og Mandino, Florence Littauer, and Art Linkletter.

Dr. Petty has spoken in all 50 states and 14 countries, to as many as 27,000 and to as few as three!

Best known as a Christian family humorist, Charles speaks at banquets, worship services, senior adult conferences and family life conferences.

Dr. Petty was educated for 22 consecutive years in Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas, which means he is well educated or a little slow. He earned a Th.D. degree, writing his doctoral dissertation on “Divorce”. He has been a pastor, worked for the Texas and North Carolina Baptist State Conventions, and since 1985 has had a full time speaking ministry.

He couples his book knowledge on family with what he learned from the school of hard knocks. His parents divorced when he was six years old; his mother died when he was nine; he then lived in a blended family; his father and thirteen year old brother were killed when he was sixteen; and after living by himself for a year, he became a foster child. By age sixteen, Charles had lived in nuclear, broken, and blended families; alone; and in foster care. Luckily he had become a Christian early in his life and that faith sustained him during those difficult days.

Dr. Petty is married to his college sweetheart and they have two grown sons, four grandchildren and a grand dog.
